Traceability Master Class for Standards Experts in Shandong Province, China
21 October, 2011 - The European Traceability Institute conducted a traceability master class for quality standards experts in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. More than 100 experts from provincial industry associations, research institutes, business, professional and technical standardization committees attended the event.

_18 October, 2011 - The European Traceability Institute made key-note presentations on the topic of importance of traceability in the food industry at ChilePork events held in Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea.

ETI Conducts Traceability Performance Assessment for Premium Chocolates Maker
1 October, 2011 - European Traceability Institute conducted a traceability performance assessment at Godiva Chocolatier using the Trace-Certified™ standard and methodology. 15 September, 2011 - Miodrag Mitic chaired the European Life-Science Serialization & Traceability conference, which included speakers from European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union, Council of Europe (EDQM), GS1, EHIBCC and Oracle amongst others.

European Committee for Standardization appoints ETI to support FishBizz project
20 July, 2011 - The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has appointed ETI to provide expert support to a project aimed at the integration of standards for traceability and sale of Seafood Products.
The objective of the project is to increase the ability for SMEs throughout Europe to implement traceability requirements in a cost-effective manner in producing, selling and delivering high quality seafood to domestic and international markets, and to also help them comply with international and EU food safety and sustainability regulations.

Miodrag Mitic appointed to the DG SANCO Expert Group on Product Traceability
24 June, 2011 - European Traceability Institute has the pleasure to announce that its founder Miodrag Mitic is appointed in a personal capacity to the European Commission Expert Group on Product Traceability.
The European Commission Directorate General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO) set up the Expert Group to assist with the application of EU product traceability legislation by economic operators.
The Expert Group is expected to work on improving the practical application of the EU's legislative framework regarding product traceability.

3 May, 2011 - WWF is working with fishers, fisheries managers, seafood traders, and consumers to reform commercial marine fisheries towards long-term sustainability.
Managers of the WWF Smart Fishing Initiative in Asia, China, Europe and Russia met with the European Traceability Institute to discuss the implementation of traceability in international seafood supply chains.

Review of Traceability Requirements in the IFS Food Standard
12 April, 2011 - At the request of IFS, Miodrag Mitic conducted a review of the IFS Food Standard with the aim of improving traceability requirements that can be easily translated into audit checks and procedures. IFS Food is a quality and food safety standard for retailer branded food products. It is used to audit companies that process food or pack loose food products. IFS is a collaboration of three retail federations from Germany, France and Italy. The standard is currently used by over 30 retail companies and their suppliers worldwide.

18 February, 2011 - We attended the 2011 Global Food Safety Conference held in London. The founder of the European Traceability Institute has a long lasting relationship with the GFSI. He presented at the plenary session of the very first conference held in 2001, and had since been invited to speak and chair the Traceability break-out sessions at another five conferences. In 2003, he played a leading role in the compilation of traceability guidelines that were released by the Consumer Goods Forum. In 2008, he was invited to speak at the first GFSI Asia Roadshow in Japan and China, where he presented on traceability standards and solutions. The book "GFSI - Tracing the Origins", which describes the first ten years of the GFSI, named him one of the "12 Apostles" for his attendance and contributions at every conference.

Star Farm and European Traceability Institute Discuss Traceability in China

11 November, 2010 - We attended the 2010 China International Food Safety & Quality Conference in Shanghai. The annual event is supported by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), China Entry-Exit Quarantine Association (CIQA), the Certification, Accreditation and Administration of China (CNAC), US FDA, USDA, IAFP, and WHO amongst others.
Miodrag Mitic supported ChinaTrace in communicating to Certification Bodies operating in China and their customers the new one-stop service for companies seeking assurance about the origin, processing history and integrity of food sourced in China. He played a leading role in creating the ChinaTrace service in 2008.

Seafood Sustainability
23 August, 2010 - Around the world, numerous marine species are under threat from high demand from international seafood markets. Obtaining these fish unfortunately often involves unregulated, unsustainable and generally undesirable fishing methods. Miodrag Mitic met with senior representatives of the WWF in China and Hong Kong. In Beijing, he discussed strategic options for improving sustainability of fish filleting business and transparency of the seafood supply chain to meet traceability and quality requirements in the European Union and United States. In Hong Kong, he discussed expanding the Seafood Choice Initiative to mobile phone applications that could enhance consumer education and dialogue.

26 January, 2010 - Miodrag Mitic conducted a series of workshops for 200 Quality Leaders from the top Coca Cola Company bottlers, Business Unit Quality & Technical Directors, as well as, a cross section of TCCC corporate associates from Supply Chain, Research & Innovation, and other support functions on January 26 - 28, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The aim of the workshops was to establish a common understanding of key traceability concepts and global standards which enable traceability process mapping and vulnerability assessment. The participants discussed with TCCC peers the impact of traceability opportunities and challenges on its performance and bottom line.
